Mental Health Awareness...

With it being Mental Health Awareness Day on Wednesday, I thought it was vital to reinforce how important Mental Health is.

Mental Health, isn't something that is always visual it often is hidden and there is a lot of uncertainty sometimes around Mental Health.

In many scenarios, it's unclear to people whether they have Mental Health or not.

It's often that people feel ashamed or as if it's a let down towards people they care about etc, though it actually takes a massive amount of bravery for somebody to admit that they're suffering.

Mental Health, comes in all shapes forms and sizes.

It could be the smallest thing that forms a negative mindset that leads to Mental Health.

I admit myself, suffering from anxiety takes a lot to actually admit that you're suffering. However, that's the biggest step that you have to make in order for yourself and your mind to feel better again.

The recovery stage, almost shows your life and your life in many different ways. It allows you to understand that others are suffering in ways that you often don't think about.

Though slow progress is a starting point.

From males to females, we all tend to believe that by suffering from Mental Health it's a failure. When actually, it shows a lot of bravery and makes friends and family members proud of you for admitting what's happening during your life.

It's not something that should be frowned upon or believed that it's wrong. In fact, the message is to speak and to share what's happening!

Nobody is alone.!

Social Media has become such a positive platform for; Bloggers, Brands, Companies and Celebrities. However, social media isn't always a positive impact.

Instagram, has become a way for people to share the lives they lead. Though from time to time, you will find that the lives they share aren't necessarily the lives that they actually live.

It's hard to define what lives people live these days, as pictures that are shared online and smiles that are posted aren't always reality.

We often hide ourselves behind a mirror which sometimes is our phone or social media that becomes our defence mechanism to prevent ourselves from our own pain.

Not everything is as black and white anymore. Sometimes, we have to look further than just the simplest colours and explore.

As I have suffered with anxiety myself, I feel like I should express a few feelings of my own and how I acted when I found out that I was suffering.

So here we go:

1. Never believe that your failing yourself or your loved ones.

2. Don't feel like you aren't strong to admit that you're not okay. It takes bravery to admit that your suffering.

3. Allow yourselves time to find yourselves once again and heal.

4. Take time to heal even if that's a very long time.

5. Change your life a little or a lot. Find time to do simple things such as: read a book or go for walks to look after your mind and body.

6. Never feel like your alone, your surrounded by people who care.

----

I hope this helps a little.

SCREAM...

Have you heard the screams?
From time to time, they grow louder and louder.

Then we find ourselves patiently waiting for when the noises return.

Why? Why do we wait?

Why aren't we running?

The whirlwind feeling hits you like the ocean hits against the sea wall...

And then it returns...

Here we go again.

The panic seems to resurface.

The panic resurfaces almost as if your sat in a car and the breaks seem to not be working then you realise you aren't wearing your seat-belts.

You can feel the panic now, right?

It seems we have reached square one again!

Do you hear them too, or is it just me?

One by one, we stand in a line...

Do you see the line, like me?

To you, to me it's there....

Is it really there?

Can you see the light?

We stand waiting...

When will the light finally come on?

When can the light show me the direction?

How do I know what to do?

I must find the way that leads me back to me!

Then that's when  I realised...

We found the edge.

Why did we reach the edge?

The screams are there and they keep on coming!

They won't fade but the light does.

Have you realised yet?

The light's leading you to the edge to find the reason!

To find your direction.

To realise you have reached the edge and only you can return.

Lead your pathway and change your directions until the screams become silence and the light fades into you.

You will survive and you will find your way you just need to find you.

Don't be afraid of loosing your way as it often finds your way right back to you.

Let the light fade as it will shine once again.

Allow the screams to scream loudly until you find your journey.

Previously in the blog yesterday, I recall mentioning that it was Mental Health Awareness Day... For those of you who know me on a personal note or know of me then you will know how important this day is for me.

It's a day that is so subtle and easily forgotten because sometimes people don't understand the true worth the day has. It's a day where I hope people pull together and express the importance of the day.

In fact, I paused on the day and resisted from posting as I was observing to see how many people posted and to see what was shared!...

This topic has so many doorways, so many topics that I could find myself lost in through explaining each sector. However, I am going to state two of the main factors which I believe influence a lot towards 'Mental Health'.

1) Body

&

2) Mindest!

Again, please take a moment to think about the two factors...

Use the time to comment and express your thoughts too!

PAUSE

*******************************

With working alongside this topic for many years, I have come to the conclusion that these two are possibly the main two factors that cause mental health.

Initially, this would be down to the fact that nowadays there are so many girls and boys suffering from the idea of having to look a certain way or to be a certain size. I often find myself walking through the city hearing how both genders put their selves down due to the fact that they can't fit into the smallest size clothing or because they ate at lunch time.... Literally, the most silliest things have the most impact on our mindsets and our bodies!

Often, I pause and take a moment to remember what it was like being back in high school and even then the anxiety of knowing the damage I had put my mind and my body through scars me. We have all been there! It took me a while, to admit how much I damaged my body and my mind. I remember being scared to eat as my peers may think differently towards me or to only allow myself to have 1 meal a day. 1 meal a day!!!! I repeat, 1 meal a day! At that specific time, that really meant nothing to me but now looking back how on earth did I survive?..

Even now to this day I struggle to eat more than 1 meal because I have shrunk my stomach so much that sometimes I suffer with severe sickness due to changing my body. Is it really worth placing your body through so much strain?

No!

You don't have to be a size 6 to be happy. In fact, I found myself less happier because I mentally and physically put my body and my health through so much distress. Now I am a size 8/10 and I am more than healthy as I am happy through knowing I really don't need to add so much strain towards myself.

The moment, you face your fears and face reality is the moment you come to terms with understanding that the world isn't as scary as you believe. To do so, you have to be ready to communicate with somebody you trust but most importantly yourselves...

Until that point, you're left to struggle and trust me things will only proceed to failure and pain!

Mental Health, is an ongoing battle for a lot more people than we truly believe.

From time to time, someone will stand up and speak out loud but majority of people are left struggling to cope within themselves...

Often, I hear the same questions repeated;

'Why didn't she/he tell me she/he was suffering?"

"Why didn't they talk?"

"How come they're quiet lately?"

The questions are endless, the answers are short and simple.

If you notice, someone is struggling help them, guide them and most importantly listen.

To make someone whole again, it could literally just be a five minute conversation. Time often saves and builds someones confidence again.

Did you ask, if they were okay?

Did you truly listen?

Did you seem like you paid enough attention?

One simple action could resolve such a big impact on someone's life.

Mental health, is truly such a big can of worms that everyone could spend forever in a day speaking about.

Although, highlighting two of the main issues  is very important!

'Allow yourselves to help others in order for those to help you.' - This is truly the best advice I could give when it comes to this topic as if you struggle on your own it will become worse day by day.

Without a doubt, I could sit here and list so many things that I see as negatives towards myself and my body but instead I have come to a positive pathway and pushed the doubts away.

You're who you are!...

I prefer wearing my hair curly but there will be days you see me with straight hair.

I'm not as skinny as I used to from being 17, I am now 20 years old and I am a happy size 8/10.

I do have big hips that stick out and I have incy wincy tiny legs!

We can't win!

But I am happy, I have friends and family who love me and it's time to embrace who we all are, as if you don't nobody else can!

Look for the positives and that way you will achieve!

You never have to be scared of being you...

I feel like I have made my point and it's important that I keep you all focused so I don't want to babble on but please feel free to contact my email at any time... I will respond, nobody is ever alone!

Let's stand together!

Mental Health Awareness Blog...

As today is the day I have scheduled in my diary planner to work against the time and release a few blogs for you all, how could I resist posting this one?

When I was given the opportunity, to work with a few lovely people targeting 'Mental Health Awareness' - it was a definite yes for me! There was absolutely no way in this world that I didn't wish to take the time to tackle this and to make: young people, children and adults aware that mental health does exist.

Since, March I have experienced how many people disregard the topic of 'Mental Health'.

At first, I was so angry with how the world captures the idea of mental health and how people who are suffering are disregarded. It physically appalled me!

However, from working closely with professionals and experiencing people's own stories it makes you realise how the world fears the idea of mental health...

It's the FEAR...

The idea of knowing you suffer with mental health or you know somebody who does, is represented as such a fear towards all of us.

And actually, if anything it's shown me how to be brave and to encourage those who are suffering or who's family members are suffering that your very strong.

Hearing the stories and meeting the people, which I must say has been such a privilege, who have suffered or are on-going battling with mental health has truly opened my mind to knowing that we should make a stand to those who are disregarding mental illnesses!

Why should we put people down due to a mental illness?

An illness, is an illness and you can get better!

Instead of mocking those who are suffering, let's pull together and make people better!

Stop the world from becoming bitter and make it a happy and healthy place for everybody.

To even spare a few minutes of your time to ask those who are surrounding you if their okay will make the world of difference to them!

Show your friends and family love but most importantly take the time to love yourself too.

Let's help to make Mental Illnesses aware to the world!

Join me with the hashtags and share this to your loved ones!

#MakeMentalHealthKnown

#MentalHealthAwareness!

Good Luck!

Love,
